As reports of new pests are received from growers in the region, our lab gathers samples and extracts genetic sequences allowing for a molecular taxonomic identification of the mite species, if one is available already.

A parallel morphological identification of each samples is done at the Plant Protection and Inspection services of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture.
